This drive offers the chance to really enjoy the fall foliage of Vermont. This is a ring of 58 miles through the communities Brattleboro, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica, Londonderry, Weston, Chester and Rockingham. YouAll department stores have a variety of activities and historical sites, beautiful homes, and great fall color progress.
Start your trip to Brattleboro. It 's the first exit on I-91 Vermont. If you come from south to north on I-91, turn right at the end of the ramp. If you are coming from north to south on I-91 turn left at the end of the ramp on the left. Your first goal is to drive toward the center of Brattleboro.
Stay on the road turned and driveacross the center in Brattleboro. As the main part of town, you leave encounter obvious crossroads. Look for Route 30 and follow signs to Route 30
Continue on Route 30 in the direction of the two beautiful villages of Newfane and Townshend. in Newfane and surrounding buildings to include the village square the Vermont photographed.
Entering his Townshend very careful because a strong left to stay on Route 30. Just beMake sure you see the signs. Want to stay on Route 30. Then sharp turn to the left is the city of Jamaica and Stratton Mountain. This section of Route 30 is particularly picturesque. Jamaica deserves a short break, there are some shops and some really nice galleries.
You begin the ascent to the mountains, if you leave Jamaica. Stay on Route 30 until you reach Bondville. As you stand in Bondville, pay attention to the intersection of routes 30 & 100North. Turn right onto Route 100 North.
Head north on Route 100 in Londonderry. At the intersection of Routes 100 & 11 Turn right on 11th Street in Londonderry keep an eye out for the Garden Cafe. The food at the Garden Cafe is excellent, and is connected to an art gallery really well.
If time permits, take a short detour to the village of Weston. To the east on Route 11 until you see signs for Route 100 North. Turn left onto Route 100North and continue north to Weston.
The two main attractions are the original Vermont Country Store in Weston and the Weston Playhouse. There is also one of the most beautiful mill pond / waterfall photo opportunities in all of southern Vermont.
Back to travel through the South on Route 100 Londonderry. If it ends at Route 11, turn left and Chester to the east. On the way to Chester, you can use another small detour to Magic Mountain and enjoy a spectacularIn view of the River Valley Weston.
Back to Route 11 and turn right and then to Chester. You go from Simon Ville, which is a guest house has a beautiful large upstairs ballroom.
When you reach the Chester, if you are a quilt enthusiast, stop on land resources, on the right just before the green. It is a Wonderland fan quilt. About halfway along the green is a wonderful library, Misty Valley Books. Parking for both companies is togreen.
How can it happen or the green car park, turn right onto School Street. Rose Arbour is only a block from the green to the left. Stop and eat yourself to a delicious lunch or sweet tea.
Finally, I recommend a detour before the 91st Interstate Leaving Rose Arbour right on Route 11, turn east for over a quarter of a mile and the intersection with routes 11 and 103 North on the left. Go over the hillChester Depot.
A journey by train on the Green Mountain Flyer from Bellows Falls to Chester is one of the best ways to see the foliage. Six out of vintage cars restored to Bellows Falls and back. The train travels along the Williams River and the color can be wonderful.
After his return to Chester, just south of the junction points of routes 103 and 11 right onto Route 11 and head east Rockingham. In Rockingham, you have another opportunity to visit VermontCountry Store. In my opinion, this stock is more likely to have recent experience on the original business in Weston.
After his return to Chester, after turning on Route 103 to Rockingham and Bellows Falls. The Old Meeting House in Rockingham is a historical site worth a quick visit.
The end of this scenic road ends quickly in Rockingham. Route 103 intersects with I-91 [Exit 6].
