Riding through Vermont has never been more peaceful or beautiful than when you take the 159 mile route from Brattleboro to Burlington. There are many stops along the way to stretch your legs and your mind, before hitting the road again. There are rivers, covered bridges, mountain tops, little towns and scenery that make you feel like you're part of a postcard. It is beautiful and worth every second that you're on the trip. This is a low key, minimal traffic route that allows you to ride as you please. The road may incline or decline depending on the parts, but you will not have to worry about twisting and twirling around narrow mountain passages. If you have a late start, you can stop in at the Stone Boat Inn. They offer clean, quaint rooms and a hot continental breakfast when you stay. One of the best stops to make while on the trip is at the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Plant unless you travel during the colder months. There you can taste test only some of the finest ice cream you have ever had while watching it be made in their factory. Make sure to take some for the road! The route to Burlington is mostly filled with scenic vistas and moderate elevation changes. As you near the mountainous region of the state you will have the opportunity to catch a few sweeping curves. Burlington, Vermont is known for its skiing community during the winter months. During the summer you can take advantage of hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and camping at the local grounds. During the summer months the town is filled with events for local charities, live local entertainment, and the occasional poker run for bikers that are passing through.
Vermont is one state where the riding is limited to June through September. The winters come early and stay long while they pelt the region with an abundance of snow. If you are from out of the area it is important to check the local weather before heading out on a ride.
